Virus alienated keywords from Total Commander

Virus on your computer alienated FTP servers, including the login and password. May it harm your web sites?

If you are using on your computer  the program Total Commander  for access to FTP  and save to it all access information, including passwords, the data on your servers to  which is access  via FTP, in great danger!

There are viruses that are able to steal from all computers in your computer network access information for access to your FTP servers. The attacker will then be able to change files, delete, modify differently and you can lose many valuable data. It may also happen that it will change the code of your site and  then you begin to spread malicious code or virus.

How to prevent the attacker from getting on your site:

  •  If you use Total Commander or another, certainly do not place  in it an access password to  FTP
  • Start using a program such as Win SCP which to access data to FTP requires a secure encrypted manner, that  the virus can not alienate. The program works very much like Total Commander and it is Czech.

What can I do if the attacker has gained access to the FTP information

  • Is likely that sooner or later it will try to get on your site and make some harmful interference on them
  • If it already got on your site, it is likely that it tried to change their content (the spread of malicious code, such as a virus, change or delete certain information, etc.)
  • At this point it is necessary to prevent the attacker from further action - immediately  change access data on the FTP, you must also remove all changes made on the server by attacker
  • Not even on hosting Ma @ NetPro we can not wholly prevent these attacks, the attacker may get via FTP to your site, if he knows your access data, including passwords
  • Attacker is able to get to some files but never gets to the database
  • After the discovery of the virus we will immediately change the access data, then restore files from the backup to return to the state in which they were before the attack
  • than you can log in to FTP with  new data, but keep the above principles (especially do not save password)
  • Also try to change the access data for all FTP, which you can access and if you use the same logins and passwords elsewhere, change your password at least
